Abstract:
Stochastic computing draws attention as a computational method for error tolerant applications. In this study, we discuss the acceptability of logical stuck-at faults in logic circuits for stochastic computing. Based on the characteristics of stochastic computing, we point out three reasons that some stuck-at faults in stochastic circuits are acceptable. Experimental results with fault simulator for a stochastic circuit, which implements a gamma correction, show the tolerance of SC circuits to stuck-at faults and the existence of the discussed acceptable stuck-at faults.
